2014! We think the S&P 500 will get there this year. This is the 2014 outlook show. At the end of 2013 the market went up almost every day and that just doesn’t happen. After a year like 2013 people don’t think the stock market ever goes down. But it does. And it will. And it will do that fairly sharply. Remember the old saying ā€œStocks take the stairs up slowly and they go out the window quicklyā€. Are we calling for a crash? No. Will there be a setback sometime in 2014? Of course. We think the stock markets will do fine as long as the Fed Spread remains supportive. We believe the U.S. and Texas economies will both grow faster in 2014 than they did in 2013. The dollar could get stronger. Gold should have another bad year. Oil pricing could be under pressure. All of this could be similar to the late 1990's. We believe portfolios will require more attention in the next few years than they did in the first phase of the bull market. The great rotation out of bonds and into stocks should have much longer to run. Inflation should not be a problem, according to the Fed. This was a delightful program to air, as we were joined by friends and family. Happy New Year!

Commemorating 100 years of the Federal Reserve. This week, they came, they saw, they tapered. Is the message clear yet? "Buy Stocks." Savers need growth. We are living much longer than when Social Security was enacted in 1935. Imagine becoming eligible for Social Security at age 81: That is how the system would operate if updated to current mortality expectations. Believe it or not, the United States could balance the budget in the near future! It could be 1997, 1998, 1999 all over again. Why not 100% deductible charitable donations? JOY TO THE WORLD!
